The Shiner St. Paul Lady Cardinals girls cross country team has accomplished their season goal of winning a sixth straight state title. The Cardinal boys took third place.
Running at Waco’s Cottonwood Creek Golf Course ( on Monday, October 29, 2018 ), St. Paul scored 33 points, finishing ahead of runners-up Temple Holy Trinity Catholic by 64 points.
Individually, Julianna Davis led St. Paul with a first place finish in the two mile event with a time 13 minutes, 9.2 seconds (6:34/mile). Rebecca Wagner was seventh with 13:38.6 (6:49/mile). Riley Johnson was No. 11 in 13:50.8 (6:55/mile), followed by Cameron Pesek (13:56.0, 6:58/mile); Hope Kapavik was No. 16 in 14:24.1 (7:12) and following was Paige Brown in 14:24.6 (7:12/mile). Bailey Blair was No. 19 in 15:02.1 (7:31/mile).
The Cardinal boys scored 104 points to come in third place in the 2A boys 5,000 meter event.
Walker Jackson led St. Paul with a seventh place finish in 18:24.7 (5:55/mile) and was followed by Austin “Cade” Davis in 18:25.7 (5:55/mile). Dalton Jahn was No. 27 in 19:53.4 (6:23/mile); Sam Benes was No. 33 in 20:41.5 (6:39/mile); Noah Boedeker was No. 44 with 21:21 (6:51/mile); Cole Brown was No. 61 in 22:27.8 (7:13/mile).
