Second-round games on tap for Comanches, Cardinals
Shiner and St. Paul play Thanksgiving-weekend playoff games ( on Friday November 23, 2018 ).
The Shiner St. Paul Cardinals will play the Beaumont Legacy Prep Warriors and the Shiner Comanches will face the Hearne Eagles.
St. Paul Cardinals vs. Beaumont Legacy Prep
The Cardinals will see a familiar face in Beaumont Legacy Prep at 7 p.m. Friday ( November 23, 2018 ) at The Woodlands Legacy Prep.
“We’ve played them before. They won their district and our playoff game was against a team from their district,” Cardinals head coach Jake Wachsmuth said.
The Warriors offense is run-heavy with formations that have the quarterback under center. Running back Korien Burrell has been the focal point so far as he has totaled 1,325 yards on 168 carries, and16 touchdowns.
On defense, the Warriors will come out in an eight-man front and will play aggressively.
Wachsmuth said the Cardinals gaining lots of confidence from their current form should help as well.
“We have won three of our last four game and that is boosting our team confidence,” he said. “We did a lot of good things on Friday and we have to keep that up.”
