Boerne Geneva Eagles @ St. Paul Cardinals
The Cardinals host Boerne Geneva for the second straight season tomorrow ( Friday, October 5, 2018 ).
The Eagles are 2-3, starting with 26-9 loss to Houston Second Baptist, beating San Antonio Saint Mary’s Hall 31-13, got drilled by San Antonio Cornerstone 44-13, lost to Falls City 36- 15 and rebounding with a 61-49 shootout win over San Antonio Christian.
The Eagles and St. Paul have played the last two seasons in non district with a split as Geneva won 39-21 in 2016 and St. Paul winning close 20-17 last year.
Geneva’s offense is the same as last year although the Eagles prefer to run the football.
Quarterback Ethan House will direct the Geneva offense while the ground game will once again be led by running back Devon Ahrens.
“Our defense has to do a better job of tackling,” St. Paul head coach Jake Wachsmuth said.
On offense, the Cardinals have to improve ball security as they turned the ball over six times last week against Weimar.
Wachsmuth said those turnovers prevented St. Paul from cashing in on some opportunities to put points on the board.
The Eagles’ defense will be spearheaded by linebacker Daniel Grover.
