The St. Paul came within five and half minutes of their first victory of the season at Cypress Christian Friday ( September 21, 2018 ).

In the final 5:21 of the game, the Warriors scored two touchdowns to rally from a 20-14 deficit to win 28-20.

The Cardinals had a good offensive start to the contest with a 24-yard run by Carson Reese less than two minutes into the first quarter. Noah Boedeker added a 43-yard run for a 13-0 lead with 8:28 to go in the first period.

Cypress Christian got on the board with 10:24 left in the second on a 20-yard pass from Drue Hirth to Joseph Carbone. Reese had a 1-yard run at the 5:27 mark to put the Cardinals ahead 20-7.

Carbone caught a 5-yard pass from Hirth with just five seconds left in the half to slice the trail to 20-14. Carbone tied the game with 5:21 to go in the game with a 6-yard pass and the extra point for a 21-20 lead.

Christian Fleischauer gave the Warriors some breathing room with a 69 yard punt return at the 2:47 mark of the fourth.

The Cardinals host Weimar this week ( Friday, September 28, 2018 )for Homecoming.
