LADY CARDINALS TAKE THE GOLD (AGAIN!)

The Shiner St. Paul girls golf team won their second-straight TAPPS 2A state title last week ( Monday-Tuesday, April 16-17, 2018 ) at the state meet at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco.

The Lady Cardinals scored a 408 and 409 to total 817. Second-place Lubbock Southcrest Christian scored an 888 (451, 437).

Sadie Thibodeaux (99-100) and Sarah Peters (96-103) tied for seventh place medalist with a 199 each.

Paige Brown scored a 102 and 105 to total 207 for No. 10 medalist. Other members were Maddie Stamport (112-101) for 213 and Ashley Wachsmuth (111-109) for 220.

Individual golfers for the Lady Cardinals were Macy Grabarkievtz who carded a 230 (119-111), Tristin Davis (118-116) for 234, Sydney Hermann (128-121) for 249 and Em Keseling (134-135) for 269.

ST. PAUL BOYS COME IN FIFTH PLACE

The Cardinals placed fifth with 798, scoring 407 on the first day and improving to 391 on the second day.

Walker Jackson led the Cardinals as he was No. 12 medalist with 187, 94 on the first day and improving to 93 on the second.

Also for St. Paul was Cole Brown with 199 (102-97), River Haynes with 200 (107-93), Jaydon Darilek with a 212 (104-108) and Carson Reese with 217 (109-108).
