St. Paul falls to 1-1 in district after loss to Boerne Geneva

Shiner St. Paul Cardinal Football Turnovers and big plays were the Achille’s heel in Shiner St. Paul’s 39-21 loss at Boerne Geneva Saturday afternoon ( October 1, 2016 ).

Geneva led 13-0 after the first quarter on a 55-yard pass from Will Langenbahn to Marshall Shults and a 1-yard run by Langenbahn. St. Paul blocked one of the point-afters.

The Eagles took a 21-0 about halfway through the second quarter a 29-yard touchdown run by Tyler Navarro.

The Cardinals got on the board with 3:04 left in the half on a 37-yard run by quarterback Austin Barton.

Geneva led 24-7 at halftime due to a field goal by Sutton Houser as time expired.

Less than four minutes into the third box, Matthew Schroeder caught a 48-yard pass from Langenbahn and Houser tossed a two point pass to Shults.

St. Paul got touchdown runs off 11 and 1 yards from Tre’Zell Jenkins-Perry as well as a two-point run to come within 32-14 at the end of the third.

John-Michael Knight had a 33-yard pass from Langenbahn for the finishing touch on the game with 9:36 left in the fourth.
