Shiner St. Paul Cardinal Football Four games into district play, the St. Paul Cardinals remain undefeated, and their opponents remain scoreless.

Their 45-0 shutout victory of the St. Gerard Royals brings their district scoring total this season to 190-0 with just two more district games to go.

St. Paul jumped out to a quick lead on a 25- yard rushing touchdown by Ryan Geiger two minutes into the game, and the offense just kept rolling from there. By the end of the first quarter, with two safeties and two touchdown runs by T.J. Bell, the Cardinals led by a decisive 24 points.

In the second quarter, they tacked on 14 more points to their lead, first on a 49-yard punt return by Marco Ynclan and then an 8 yard run by Joseph Natal.

The St. Paul offense remained quiet until the fourth quarter when Cole Brown’s 25-yard run into the end zone rounded out the Cardinal scoring. However, their defense worked hard enough all night long to hold the Royals to -50 total yards.

The Cardinals ran for 190 yards themselves and threw for 63. Ryan Malinovsky led with 40 yards on 2 carries, Bell added 37, scoring on 2 of his 5 touches, and Ryan Geiger contributed 25 yards on 2 rushes.

Quarterback Austin Barton completed a 23- yard pass to Geiger, one of his two attempts, and kicked 4 out of 5 extra points successfully. River Haynes also completed a 40-yard pass to Ryan Malinovsky in his only toss of the night.

The Cardinals, now 8-0 on the season, will continue district play at home on Friday against Temple Central Texas Christian at 7:30 p.m. at Comanche Stadium.
