The Cardinals racked up another shutout TAPPS Division II District 3 win against Marble Falls Faith Academy Friday night (October 2, 2015), 47-0.

St. Paul's offense scored on their very first play of the night on a 62-yard run by T.J. Bell and never really looked back.

They scored two more touchdowns in the first quarter on another shorter run by Bell and a 29 yard interception return by Nathan Pilat.

The second quarter saw three more Cardinal touchdowns on a 12 yard run by Conor Kresta, a 28 yard run by Ryan Geiger, and one more long 63 yard run by Bell.

St. Paul went into halftime with a 40-0 lead and added one more touchdown in the second half on a rushing play by Marco Ynclan to round it out the scoring.

"We had some turnovers and some penalties, coach Jake Wachsmuth said. ‘We still need to clean up some things, but it was nice to see all the kids play. I'm always proud of our kids. They play hard and the right way."

Bell rushed for 170 yards on 5 carries, bringing his season total for rushing yards up to 642 yards. Kresta ran for 36 yards, Geiger had 33, and Ryan Malinovsky added 19 to St. Paul's 291 total rushing yards on the night. Austin Barton completed 1 of his 5 passes for 39 yards.

The Cardinals also had an effective night defensively, holding the Flames to 59 total yards and just 2 first downs while racking up 3 interceptions. Wachsmuth said, "We went after the ball and actually had to make some good plays. Those interceptions weren't just given to us. Ryan Geiger went up and grabbed a couple and Pilat made a nice play on a slant pass."

St. Paul, now 6-0 overall and 2-0 in district, will continue district play in Austin this Friday (October 9, 2015) against the Texas School for the Deaf.

Conor Kresta, who had an interception and a punt recovery in addition to his second quarter TD, said, "We'll be at practice this week with a great attitude, looking to get better. We know TSD is a good team and we want to be ready for them."
