THE WOODLANDS — Shiner St. Paul took their first loss since Oct. 1, 2016, losing in the second round of the playoffs to the Bryan Brazos Eagles, 40-14.

The Eagles scored 14 straight points, one touchdown off a Bryce Steel 84-yard pass to Blake Smith, another on a 13-yard touchdown run by Tucker Hartis, before Joseph Natal gave St. Paul’s first score of the night, a 30-yard touchdown run with 21 seconds left in the quarter.

The Eagles added six more off a fumble recovery to end the half up 20-7. St. Paul cut the lead in the fourth quarter on a one-yard rush by Conor Kresta, making the score 20-14, before the Eagles scored three more touchdowns to tend the game 40-14.

Natal led the team in rushing, carrying the ball eight times for 74 yards and a touchdown. He also had two catches for 37 yards. Kresta had 10 carries for 40 yards and a score.

River Haynes went 4-of-15 for 47 yards and three interceptions. He also rushed six times for 22 yards. Kai Giese went 1-of-3 for 11 yards while carrying the ball six times for 35 yards and catching two passes for 16 yards. The team totaled 194 rushing yards on 34 carries.

Shiner St. Paul ends their season 9-1.
