SHINER — With two games under their belt, the Shiner St. Paul Cardinals are progressing as a football team,
getting better every week despite the break during the storm early in the season. Last week, the Cardinals
won 35-8 against Flatonia and Cardinals’ head coach Jake Wachsmuth hopes his team can match what they did
last week against Austin Hyde Park this week.

“We’re going to have to match what we did last week as far as our intensity,” he noted. “We’re going to have
  to eliminate some mistakes.”

Offensively, the Hyde Park Panthers run plays out of a spread formation, with a “very good quarterback who
runs the whole show,” Wachsmuth said.

“We just got to try to take away big plays,” he said. “It would be nice to keep getting some turnovers.”

Defensively, the Panthers have an odd look, where they put a nose tackle down, lining up in what some call
  a “50” or a 3-4 formation.

Offensively, the Cardinals will have to maintain control the ball against Hyde Park’s looks on defense.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals hope to have a repeat performance of last week’s defense, save for a big play here
and there that they gave up.

  Tonight’s game is at home, with kickoff scheduled at 7 p.m ( Friday, September 22, 2017 ).
