Shiner St. Paul athletes named to all-state teams

After a season like Shiner St. Paul's, it should come as a surprise to no one that many athletes were named to the all-district and the TAPPS all-state teams.

Named to the all-state first-team offense were T.J. Bell at running back, Dylan Mills at offensive line and Colton Machart at tight end. Reagan Beal was named second-team on the offense. Honorably mentioned were wide receivers Ryan Geiger and Nathan Pilat and kicker Austin Barton.

On the first team defense were Machart at defensive line, Beal at defensive line, Geiger at defensive back, Derek Kapavik at linebacker and Jed Janecek at defensive back. T.J. Bell at defensive line and Conor Kresta at linebacker were named to the second team while linebacker Alex Hull and defensive back Marco Ynclan were honorable mentioned.

Machart, Kapavik, Bell, Pilat, Geiger, Janecek, Barton and Hull were all academic all-state members.

For District 3-DIII, offensive linemen Reagan Beal and Dylan Mills, tight end Colton Machart, running back T.J. Bell, wide receivers Ryan Geiger and Nathan Pilat and kicker Austin Barton were named to the all-district first-team offense. Jed Janecek at running back, quarterback Austin Barton, offensive linemen Weston Davis and Alex Hull and all-around athlete Marco Ynclan were named to the second team with Derek Kapavik, Conor Kresta, Max Patek, Ryan Malinovsky, Ryan Bell and Noah Leist all honorably mentioned.

Named to the first-team defense were defensive linemen Machart, Beal and Bell, linebackers Kresta, Kapavik and Hull and defensive backs Ynclan, Janecek and Geiger. Mills was named second-team all-district on the defensive line with Leist at linebacker, defensive backs Bell and Pilat and punter Machart honorably mentioned.

Shiner St. Paul finished their season 14-0 with a TAPPS Division III state championship.
