Shiner St. Paul beats Beaumont Legacy Christian, 56-20,
in TAPPS state semifinals

The Shiner St. Paul Cardinals advanced to their third state championship game in five years after defeating Beaumont Legacy Christian, 56-20, Friday night (November 27, 2015) at the Woodlands Christian Academy.
The Cardinals scored with under a minute into the game with an 11-yard run by T.J. Bell and Austin Barton’s point after for a 7-0 lead. Not four minutes later, Barton ran for a 77-yard touchdown for a 14-0 lead at the 7:31 mark of the opening quarter.
Warrior running back Kandin Robertson scored on a 77-yard run and Tommy Tu added the point after to get Legacy Christian on the board with 7:10 left in the first.
The Cardinals answered with a 38-yard pass from Barton to Ryan Geiger and St. Paul went ahead 28-7 with 1:07 left in the first on a 21-yard run by Barton.
Willie Jones connected with Taydren Espirit for a 59-yard touchdown pass to bring the Warriors within 28-14 with 11:21 left in the first half.
Bell scored on a 1-yard run at the 8:21 mark and caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Barton as time expired in the half for a 42-14 advantage.
Jed Janecek got a 30-yard run at the 3:05 mark of the third quarter and had a 23-yard run with 10:03 left in the game to put St. Paul up 56-14.
The Warriors capped scoring with a 1-yard pass from Jones to Darren Lacy, with the two-point play no good, with less than five minutes left in the game.
