"Playing in the All-Star game was an awesome experience. I love getting to represent my school, teammates, and coaches. Without them, I never would have even had the chance to be selected for this honor," Wagner said.

"Emily being named TAPPS 2A Athlete of the Year is a tremendous honor. She is very deserving of this award," St. Paul athletic director and head volleyball coach Dana Beal said. "She was a five-sport athlete each year. Through her leadership and hard work, she was an integral part of the Lady Cardinal’s success each year of her participation."

Brandon Sciba was recognized as the TAPP 2A Male Athlete of the Year.

Brandon also had a fantastic senior year. He was a 1st Team All-District on offense and defense in football. He was 2nd Team All-State on offense and 1st Team All-State on defense. He was Academic All-State. His football team won the State Championship and he was selected as the State Final MVP.

"It’s been an overall great year, better than I could have imagined," Sciba said. "All the success I have achieved comes from hard work, good coaching, and good teammates. I have enjoyed every bit of playing sports at St. Paul. I will surely have memories to last a lifetime."

"Coaching is a lot of fun when you work with kids like Brandon," coach Jake Wachsmuth said. "He has been a tremendous representative of our school. He always did whatever his team needed and he never cared about who received credit. You could always count on him. He participated on 19 teams during his four years of high school."

Emily is the third female athlete at St. Paul to receive the "Of the Year" award and Brandon is the first male. In addition to a plaque honoring the achievement, the winners also receive a $500 scholarship presented by Russell Athletic.
